In The Dark

As I sit in darkened silence
My mind wanders down
Corridors of the past
Rooms of memories

Some brightly lit
With love and laughter
Joy and triumph

Others darkened
Loss and sorrow
Fear and defeat

Faces appear
Friends, family
Lovers relinquished
But unforgotten

Love and life
Smiling children
Happy home

One, a face bearded
In soiled rags
I never knew
But shall never forget

All of these,
Are ever with me
Impatient hours
In the dark

Changing Times

Two recent domestic developments give me cause for rejoicing.

The first, is the recent ban on most abortions passed and signed into law in South Dakota. This development gives me cause for hope for two reasons. The first, is that it shows that there is a growing respect for life, and I hope that this will grow into respect, period. The other reason, is that this should bring back the distinction made in the 10th Amendment to the US Constitution, which is supposed to protect the rights of the States and limit the rights of the federal government.

The other development, is the Supreme Court's decision that any institution of higher learning that accepts federal money must allow military recruitment on campus. It amazes me, that any group that wants the benefits of our federal government would not take the steps to ensure that that government is protected and upheld.

On that note...see my earlier post on citizenship!

God bless!
